HYATT REGENCY MISSION BAY POOL, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

It’s Friday afternoon and the talk around the hot tub at the Hyatt Regency is all about dolphins and waterslides. Formerly known as the Islandia, the Hyatt Regency is the closest hotel to Sea World in San Diego, California. It is of course very family-friendly, and the waterfront high-rise boasts a pretty sweet pool too.

Two of the waterslides are positioned side-by-side for racing (for those 48” and over), while the third is perfect for the younger ones. There are 3 pools in total—one with a gradual entry, plus cabanas and plenty of umbrellas and palm-tree shaded lounge chairs. The Blue Marble Spa overlooks the pool area and is known for it’s eco-friendly focus and all-natural and organic products. In the summer, “sunscreen concierge” service is complimentary. Pretty swanky.

The Mission Bay Hyatt pool is family-focused, lively and active. Food and drink service is available. Definitely a bring-the-kids, a-magazine and floppy-hat kind of place. After a day or two at Sea World with early evenings and lunch breaks at this pool, everyone should be sufficiently water-logged and rejuvenated.
