VILLAS MAGLEN, GUADALUPE, BAJA, MEXICO – READER SWIM

Reader AB spent Easter weekend on a road trip from Los Angeles to Valle de Guadalupe in Baja, Mexico. While she was there, she visited Villas Maglen, an upscale, ultra modern resort / winery that’s definitely worth checking out.

This Guadalupe is 20 miles or so outside of Ensenada, (not to be confused with the more well-known Guadalupe on the mainland of Mexico, near Monterrey, or one of the many lesser known Guadalupes in Mexico such as the one near Oaxaca and one in Chihuahua).

it’s an up-and-coming wine location, with some really cool ultra modern resorts. Without traffic, it’s a 3 to 4 hour drive from Los Angeles. Getting back make take longer due to border crossing lines.

The property features modern accommodations and a tasting room built into a cave . The pool is small but elegant but doesn’t seem like people swim in it much:

To be fair, AB was there in Spring, before it got too terribly hot. So maybe swimming wasn’t top of mind for Maglen guests. But it sure looks inviting! Here’s the pool from another angle:

You probably see a peaceful, verdant, mountainy oasis. We see a coupla’ empty lounge chairs with our names on them!

Thanks AB, send more. And if any of you visit a hotel pool, please share your pictures with us, or tag us on Twitter @hotelswimmingpo or Instagram: @hotelswimmingpools, or use the tag: #ihavethisthingwithhotelpools
