THE GOLDEN NUGGET, LAS VEGAS

We’ve written about this pool before, here and here.

Now, we’ve finally been in it.

It’s indoors and heated, but open air. There are tons and tons of chaise lounges and it must get pretty crowded in season. We were there in November and it was pretty empty. There are also chaise lounges IN the pool, which is always a bonus.

The clientele was pretty typical downtown Vegas. Drunk guys, midwestern families. The occasional bridal party. There are gaming tables in the pool area. A stool at a $10 blackjack table might make a nice perch for watching the kids swim the day away. As long as you keep winning.

There are lifeguards and plenty of frat boys, but the vibe wasn’t over the top Vegas pool party.

Here is the 9 year old’s review: There are colored lights underwater. It’s so cool to swim right next to the tank and pretend you are going to swim into a shark. It’s also fun to make a full circle around the tank. It’s like fish are coming at you!

And of course, the slide is awesome!

You can pay extra for a cabana at the upstairs, private pool deck overlooking the tank too.
