QUINTA REAL, HUATULCO, MEXICO

We recently covered the pools at Dreams, Huatulco. While in the area, we were lucky enough to check out other pools too.

While Dreams and it’s sister property Secrets (for adults-only)  are pretty much the nicest large-scale resorts in the area, Quinta Real provides an even more upscale, less-resort-like experience. It’s part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts group and features just 28 luxury suites (8 with private pools) at the top of a hill with views of the bay.  It’s tucked into a private corner, surrounded by ocean, and just a staircase away from a golden sand beach lined with private palapas.

The main infinity pool is on two levels and is surrounded by umbrellas, luxurious Bali beds and stunning ocean views. While the pools at the other properties in the area were teeming with kids, vacationers and sun-bathers, both the pool and the beachfront at Quinta Real were nearly empty when we visited.

If we were to go back to Huatulco without the kids, this is definitely where we would stay.
