LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, OPEN-TO-THE-PUBLIC POOLS

Turns out you can use a number of Las Vegas pools without actually being a hotel guest. Check out this great LA Times roundup of options. Some, like the pool at Caesars Palace are somewhat affordable ($20 per person), while the Mandarin Oriental requires cabana rental, starting at a hefty $350 during the week. Might as well get a room, right?

At the Rio, you don’t have to be a guest or pay a fee! just show up with your floaties and flip flops, ready to swim. But check this out first as a cautionary tale–it might not be quite as family-friendly as all that.

Here is their horrible web photo. Time for some new pool photos Rio?
