HOTEL BARCELÓ, HUATULCO, MEXCIO

We recently covered two hotel pools in Huatulco here and here.

Hotel Barceló is right on the the beautiful Huatulco beach, next to Dreams. It calls itself a 5-star property and while it seemed a little less upscale than Dreams, it does have it’s own water park, with slides, fountains and lifeguards on duty. The kids there seemed over-the-moon excited.

The clientele was probably 95% Spanish speaking. I think the property is geared more to local tourists than the other places we covered where Americans and Canadians will probably feel more comfortable. Although adventure-minded travelers, or those who know what to expect would probably be quite happy here.

For us, it was all about the “Club Barcy” water park:

And don’t think you can stay at one of the neighboring properties and sneak in to use the slides. There is a strictly enforced wristband policy to keep you from doing that. Not that we tried or anything. Just saying.
