FOUR SEASONS, SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA

The actual pool at the Four Seasons Resort at the Biltmore, in Santa Barbara is nice enough, with spacious lounging, poolside service and an oversized hot tub.

But the really cool thing is that guests of the Four Seasons can actually use the exclusive Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club. Upon check-in, guests get a special passport (see images below) that allows entry into the exclusive Club. It’s located adjacent to the resort on Butterfly Beach. The 75-year-old Club (renovated in 2008)  is a  Santa Barbara institution, boasting an Olympic size pool with 180-degree vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands and the Santa Barbara coastline. The pool is actually 1 meter longer than Olympic regulation size and the rumor is that this was intentional, so it could never be used for such pedestrian exploits as swimming events and competitions. Oh, those clever Santa Barbara socialites.

Besides the pool (with plenty of lounging space for those beautiful views), there is also a fitness center at the Club, with classes in yoga and pilates, and also cabana rentals available. Also, a sun deck on the second level allows for prime ocean viewing.

It’s an exclusive members club and is designed to pamper its members. Hourly perks include chilled towels, popcorn, chilled fruit and more. So what, that we visited on a quick business trip with almost no time to enjoy it? We got some cool photos and soaked up some old-school Santa Barbara historical glamour. And,  we can’t wait to come back for a longer trip.
